WELCOME LETTER
Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 year in 5th grade. I am so excited for my first year at Earl and even more thrilled about getting to know each and every student and family. As a parent of four children that are my world, I know so well what it means to entrust your children to someone else each day. This is a responsibility and an absolute privilege that I do not take lightly. Our children are our most precious treasures and I am so grateful that you have decided to share a piece of their lives with me.
Each day I will welcome them to class and fill our time together with purposeful, meaningful, and creative lessons. Our days will be filled with student led discussions and project based learning. By giving the students control of their learning, I get to know as much about them as 21st century learners as possible, I also get to learn as much from them as they learn from me. We will maintain a daily schedule and routine, but will also take time to speed up or slow down the rigor of our lessons as the cooperation and learning calls for. We will work together as a community of learners and each student will work within a team, in partnerships, and independently each day. They will have the opportunity to select their seating; whether it be seated in a chair, on the floor, on a stool, or standing, they will make choices based on their individual needs. I hold my students to high expectations because I know that when you give children an achievable goal, they will rise to the challenge and find success!
I maintain an open door policy. I want students and families all to feel warm and welcome in my classroom. Questions, concerns, suggestions, and ideas are always welcome and appreciated. When we all take a part in education, when we all work together as a team to create the most effective plan, that is when we see our students and our children rise to their greatest potential. WIth open communication between home and school, we can ensure that parents are informed and involved and that students are responsible and growing each new day. Please do not hesitate to contact me or stop by to have a chat. Also, this website will be a great resource for staying up-to-date and informed about what is going on within the classroom.
I hope that you and your student are as excited about the new school year as I am. I look forward to all of the adventures we will experience together this year. Thank you for trusting me with your child, it is an honor to be working with them!
Thank You,
Mrs. Perry
